Snorkel with Dolphins in Sataya Reef

Are you a dolphin lover and want to scuba dive with him? So, this is the best time to accomplish your dream by jumping into scuba diving on the Sataya Reef in Egypt.

I have been in my scuba diving and snorkeling career for a decade and have swum in hundreds of islands, but I have never dived with dolphins.

The Sataya Reef in Egypt is different from others. As I came into the dolphin lagoon in Sataya, I found that dolphins came close to me and swam with me. This diving realization is memorable and heart-touching if you are a professional scuba diver.

If you have the exact same experience that I had in the dolphin lagoon, pack your full-fledged diving equipment and be ready to begin your journey towards Sataya Reef with your underwater camera for scuba diving to capture these memorable moments.

How to Reach Sataya Reef

If you have a plan to complete your dream to dive with dolphins and capture throwback photos from your underwater camera for scuba diving, you have two options to reach the Sataya Reef.

First, reach Hamata Port or Harbor and take a boat departing towards the Sataya Reef. This trip consumes at least 2 hours, so bring your meals and snorkeling gear with you.

The second option is to go through three Red Sea Diving Safari Villages located in the Marsha Alam area. All three villages consist of Marsa Shagra, Marsa Nakari, and Wadi Lahami.

Out of three villages, Wadi Lahami is ten kilometers away from Sataya Reef. By a Rigid Inflatable Boat (RIB) you can approach there only in 40 minutes.

What Equipment Do You Require for Diving in Sataya Reef?

I am aware of the fact that on Sataya Reef, the water temperature in the winter months is 27 degrees Celsius, while in the summer months, it is 31 degrees Celsius.

I recommend you do snorkeling and scuba diving; it is mandatory to wear a short wet suit (3mm) if you are sensitive to cold. Along with a rash guard to prevent sunburns, a mask, fins, snorkel, and underwater camera for scuba diving, a waterproof phone case, and sunscreen to add more skin protection.

Best Time to Visit Sataya Reef

Sataya Reef is protected from currents and waves due to the existence of the surrounding swallow reef. In this way, this lagoon is the best option for beginners to advanced-level divers.

However, snorkeling during the middle of the day is not recommended for any divers in the summer months because of the emergence of heavy heat and infrared radiation.
